Visitors to the city centre will be able to park for free for one hour in nearly all council car parks from this week, as the roll-out of a 1-hour free parking trial begins across the city centre.
This is a trial initiative and will run until the end of March 2027 and will see visitors not charged for their first hour of parking in selected council-owned car parks only.
Users will still need to place a ticket on their vehicle or use the RingGo App and select the 1-hour preference.
The initial roll-out, which begins from this week, will include the following council car parks:
Chappell Drive East and West will be included in the roll-out at a later date.
Mayor Ros Jones said: “This trial initiative will be monitored and assessed over the course of this financial year. I encourage our residents to visit our city centre, support our local businesses and Doncaster Markets.
“Every time you shop on our high streets or visit Doncaster Markets, you’re supporting local jobs, independent traders, and our community. Fresh produce, quality products, bargains to be found and friendly faces—it’s all right here on our doorstep. Shop local, support Doncaster, and enable our high streets to thrive.”
Further information on free 1-hour parking for the two remaining council car parks will be communicated once they become live.
