Consent gained for more than 300 homes on former colliery tip

Gleeson Homes has secured permission to build 333 homes off Broomhouse Lane in Warmsworth, Doncaster.

The development, which will be known as Danum Glade, will see the 41.4 acre plot of brownfield used for two, three and four bedroom semi-detached and detached homes. The land was formerly a colliery spoil tip.

Construction at Danum Glade will begin imminently and will continue until summer 2031. The first homes are due to be released for sale in spring 2023, and the first residents expected to move into the new homes in summer 2023.

Gleeson will make several community contributions as part of the scheme, including £153,000 towards off-site affordable housing.

Bryan Simpson, divisional managing director of Yorkshire and Midlands at Gleeson said: “We are thrilled to be bringing our affordable, quality homes to Warmsworth.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes making homeownership a reality.

“This is the ideal location for a Gleeson development and we thrive on developing brownfield land, turning often unsightly, unused land into desirable homes.

“We are looking forward to working with the local community and we will be looking to employ a workforce that comprises of local labour, including apprentices, and contractors.”
