A Doncaster community pub has re-opened following a huge transformational makeover.
The Alverley Inn on Springwell Lane, Balby, officially reopened on Thursday 29 October following a transformational investment of more than £698,669.
The pub is part of Proper Pubs, the award-winning community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.
Behind the bar is operator Beverley Cooper, who has extensive experience in the hospitality industry.
A spokesperson said: “Her expertise, combined with her energy and enthusiasm, will enable her to create a lively social hub for customers to enjoy, further cementing the pub at the heart of the local community.”
Inside, the refurbishment includes a fully transformed first floor area, an opened-up lounge bar area to give customers a more cohesive space, as well as new lighting, flooring, televisions, furniture and seating.
The spokesperson added: “Overall, the pub has a more appealing environment for both staff and customers, as well as an enhanced sports/entertainment offer through new darts and pool facilities.
“Outside, the Alverley Inn includes a newly refurbished beer garden, new signage and a full external redecoration, as well as some necessary roof repairs.”
The pub will offer a wide range of draught lager, stout and cider. In addition to this, there will also be a variety of soft drinks and spirits to ensure there is something for everyone.
Beverley said: “It was great to see people visit and experience the finished pub for the first time.
“The refurbishment has given the Alverley a fresh new look and is a real family friendly venue for the local community to enjoy. We had a brilliant time on the opening night and look forward to hosting lots more live entertainment acts.
“Admiral’s expertise was very valuable throughout the process, and the team understood what the pub needed to offer the community. From the outset, the aim was to create a family friendly community hub for locals and visitors to enjoy.”
On top of the fantastic drinks selection, the operator will host a busy schedule of entertainment for customers to enjoy including regular live music, DJs, karaoke, quiz nights, game nights, pool teams, and darts teams. In addition to this, the pub will be showing weekly live sport and racing.
Beverley is also hoping to support all aspects of
community life by collecting food to donate to the local foodbank, supporting local charities close to the community’s heart, and raising money for a life-saving defibrillator outside the pub.
