Doncaster firm takes on HQ of UK’s largest rail freight company

Doncaster-based firm Barnsdales FM Ltd has been appointed as the new facilities manager of DB Cargo’s UK headquarters.

Based at Lakeside Business Park in Doncaster, DB Cargo is the UK’s largest rail freight company, transporting millions of tonnes of freight across the nation each year. The company transports everything from cereals to coal, barbecues to biomass, and petroleum to steel.

With the new contract has come into effect on 31st December 2021, Barnsdales takes on exclusive responsibility for the service and maintenance of the firm’s UK headquarters from their Doncaster base of operations. The appointment comes on the back of several recent high-profile successes for Barnsdales, most notably The Highfields Group and iPort - the UK’s most advanced multimodal logistics hub.

Clive Chippindale, Managing Director of Barnsdales FM Ltd, said: “This is another landmark instruction for our team in Doncaster.  It's fantastic to be collaborating with local businesses and providing exemplary service and support, and we are very much looking forward to working with DB Cargo over the years to come.”

Barnsdales FM Ltd has fully retained the existing team, who will continue to provide essential support to the DB Cargo’s management unit, together with some new team members to improve service.

Simon Lock, Property Asset Manager at DB Cargo, commented: “On a day-to-day basis, operations will continue with our fantastic facilities team, but Barnsdales coming on board whilst maintaining our core team means that we’ll enjoy the perfect balance of essential site knowledge and a re-energised approach - ensuring that our Head Office runs as smoothly as our rail operations”.
