Doncaster Sheffield Airport announces new leadership appointments

Doncaster Sheffield Airport has made three new leadership team appointments, with the new senior leaders working on the reopening of the airport.

Andy Hudson has been appointed as Head of Air Traffic Services, while Kofi Yeboah takes on the Head of IT role and Sam Kind has been named the Head of Finance.

FlyDoncaster, the operator of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, says the appointments complete the eight-strong leadership team comprised of aviation experts focusing on the certification and operational readiness of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The new hires join leadership team members Wes Bunting, Head of Fire Rescue and Emergency Planning; Gary Winterman, Head of General Aviation & Cargo; Steve Allcoat, Head of Assets; Shane Berry, Head of Health, Safety & Fire Safety; and Dave Openshaw, Head of Security.

Andy Hudson has previously worked at BAE Systems Warton, where he held the position of Manager ATS for two years, and brings more than 10 years of experience in the aviation industry, working in Air Traffic Control.

More than 50 people are currently employed by FlyDoncaster, the company says. Kobi Yeboah and Sam Kind have already held roles as Interim Head of IT and Finance Manager respectively at the organisation and have been promoted.

Simon Hinchley, Executive Director for Airport Operations at FlyDoncaster, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Andy, Kofi and Sam to the leadership team, as we know their vast experience will help to drive forward work as we prepare for reopening. Collectively the leadership team is focused on establishing a strong operating model to underpin a safe, efficient and compliant Doncaster Sheffield Airport of the future. We look forward to working together on the vital strategic and practical steps required.”

Andy Hudson, Head of Air Traffic Services at FlyDoncaster, said: “I’m looking forward to joining the team at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, it’s an exciting time as momentum builds towards re-opening.  As Head of Air Traffic Services I’ll have technical, operational and strategic input and I can’t wait to get started.”

Activity on the site has begun to ramp up in recent weeks. Hinchley said: “We recognise the significant part this airport will play in creating employment opportunities now and in the future for people living locally. In fact, we know that already more than two thirds of our current staff team are from Yorkshire; comprised of previous staff and new team members from other airports. We will continue to expand our workforce in readiness for key milestones in the reopening process.”

FlyDoncaster is working with schools, colleges and universities to help to open aviation and travel job opportunities for the next generation and recently announced a procurement process for a Fixed Base Operator (FBO).
