DUSK.COM: Retailer set to hire more staff in Yorkshire after record Christmas

DUSK.COM, one of the UK’s fastest-growing furniture and homewares retailers, plans to hire more staff in Yorkshire after reporting a record trading performance in December.

The company also revealed that its nine-month revenue was up 26 per cent to £140.9m compared with same period last year.

DUSK.COM said that profitability improved throughout the year, reaching record levels in December. The business said it benefitted from its increasing scale and the investments it had made over the past 18 months.

Chris Read, the chief executive of DUSK.COM, said there was an air of caution before the Budget in late 2025, adding: "I think confidence improved post that. If anything, customers felt they wanted more value and that's something as a business that we offer in abundance.

Chris Read, CEO, commented: “We are really pleased with our record seasonal performance and the strong momentum we have built throughout the year."

"The Christmas performance was really positive, and sales were up year on year. The turnover figure for the year ending March 2025 was £153m, up 56 per cent on the previous year.

"We had double digit growth over the four-week Christmas period. We had a very good December, and that performance has carried on into January."

DUSK.COM, which was founded in Leeds in 2016 and has three warehouses in Doncaster, employs around 500 staff including seasonal workers. Mr Read said the business planned to continually increase its headcount in Yorkshire.

"We’re keen to keep our foot on the gas and continue growth,’’ he added.

The trading statement added: “Repeat customers now account for around 50 per cent of DUSK.COM orders, highlighting the loyalty of DUSK’s customer base and the value customers place on its proposition of quality, style, and affordability.

“FY25 (full year 2025) was intentionally a year of accelerated investment, with continued focus on infrastructure, warehousing and systems over the past 18 months.

"This included the opening of a third UK warehouse, a 279,000 sq. ft facility that doubled dispatch capacity and improved delivery performance, alongside a £1.5m technology upgrade, enhanced automation, improved stock visibility and a redesigned website to support higher conversion and a more personalised customer journey.”

Mr Read added: “We are really pleased with our record seasonal performance and the strong momentum we have built throughout the year.

"We are growing ahead of a highly fragmented market and cementing our position as a disruptive force in the homewares and furniture space, taking market share from competitors as customers choose DUSK for our style, price and quality.”

“It has been particularly encouraging to see the strength of loyalty within our customer base, with customers continuing to return and engage strongly with our products."

The business said: “The company’s strong end to 2025 and record Christmas performance against a challenging macroeconomic environment underpin management’s confidence in continuing momentum and sustaining growth throughout 2026.”
