Eland Cables leads the way by implementing the new Real Living Wage immediately, seven months ahead of deadline

Eland Cables, one of the largest suppliers of electrical cables to critical infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe, has announced that it will implement the newly increased Real Living Wage with immediate effect - seven months ahead of the May 2026 date set by the Living Wage Foundation.

This month, The Foundation announced a 7% rise in the Real Living Wage, reflecting the true cost of living across the UK and in London. While accredited employers have until May 2026 to adopt the new rate, Eland Cables is applying it now, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to fair pay and employee wellbeing.

JS Pelland, Executive Director at Eland Cables, said: “As one of 16,000 employers who have publicly committed to the Living Wage Foundation, we have until 1 May 2026 to introduce the rise - we will do it with immediate effect. This commitment to a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work, alongside a host of healthcare and wellbeing benefits, is central to our ESG strategy.”

Eland Cables’ proactive stance builds on its established track record of leading on ethical employment and sustainability standards. The company holds an EcoVadis Gold rating for ESG performance, and has seen its commitment highlighted by The Times and HR Grapevine.

With sizable operations near Doncaster, Eland Cables’ early adoption underscores the strength of Yorkshire’s responsible business community. By acting ahead of the national timeline, the company demonstrates that sustainable business success goes hand-in-hand with supporting employees through rising living costs.

Pelland added: “It’s the right thing to do, and it makes good business sense. Our people are the driving force behind our continued growth, and this decision ensures they share directly in the success they help to create.”
