Electric Vehicle Grants Available for Businesses: Funding Support to Accelerate Doncaster’s Electric Future

With the Government’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate now in effect, and a national commitment for all new cars and vans to be zero-emission by 2035.

Businesses are starting to look towards Electric Vehicles (EVs) to replace existing petrol and diesel vehicles within their fleets. However, with an increase in EVs comes the need for reliable and accessible EV charging infrastructure.

Alongside the work City of Doncaster Council is doing to support the transition to EVs, there are a range of government grants available to help businesses reduce the cost of installing EV chargepoints and future proofing their sites. These grants present a significant opportunity for businesses planning fleet electrification, providing staff charging options, or improving visitor facilities.

Workplace Charging Scheme - Workplace Charging Scheme - GOV-UK Find a grant

This grant provides support towards the costs of the purchase, installation and hardware of EV chargepoints.

  • Covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints, capped at a maximum of:
  • £350 per chargepoint socket
  • 40 sockets per applicant

The scheme is open to businesses, charities, public sector organisations, and small accommodation businesses. Chargepoints must also be installed by an OZEV-authorised installer.

EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets - Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets - GOV-UK Find a grant

Small and medium sized businesses can access the grant for money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets.

  • Grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000
  • Up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed
  • Up to £500 per enabled parking space

Businesses can apply for up to five grants across five sites, helping support long-term fleet and staff charging sites.
