GatewayEast Academy launches new employment website

The GatewayEast Academy, delivered in partnership with Peel L&P, Doncaster Sheffield Airport and Business Doncaster launches a dedicated website this week (22 February) – a Hub that links employers and candidates together.

With fewer services delivered face to face right now, the Academy is perfectly positioned to be able to connect residents with the great job opportunities that are available in this part of Doncaster.

Following the success of the iPort Academy, individuals can now access information about local job opportunities, apprenticeships, job matching services, skills training, personal development workshops and so much more at GatewayEast.

Councillor Bill Mordue, Portfolio Holder for Business, Skills and Economic Development said: “The GatewayEast Academy is a fantastic project in helping to ensure local residents are able to access available education, training or employment opportunities.”

“The iPort Academy has already proven to be a useful platform for both individuals and businesses in helping to fill job vacancies at the iPort since its launch. By introducing another Academy, we are able to share information, provision updates and publish job opportunities as and when they become available. This is a great collaboration of two large employment sites in Doncaster, to better support jobseekers in our borough.”

Robert Hough, Chairman of Peel Airports Group, which includes Doncaster Sheffield Airport said:  “Doncaster Sheffield Airport is mindful of its role as a cornerstone of GatewayEast and as an economic hub for jobs and opportunities for the region. As such, we are proud to be involved with the GatewayEast Academy, equipping the community with the tools required to get people into jobs and supporting local businesses to recruit from a local talent pool.”

Stephen Wild, Peel L&P’s Executive Director for Strategic Investment & Growth said: “As Sheffield City Region’s largest opportunity for economic growth, GatewayEast is set to become a world-class destination for advanced manufacturing, innovation and logistics, building on the area’s industrial heritage and strengthened by the proximity to Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the East Coast Mainline train network.

“It will create up to 35,000 jobs and 3,000 new homes by 2037, worth £6.5bn to the local economy and this new dedicated jobs website will help to connect people to a range of exciting opportunities available today and as the area continues to develop.”

The Academy will offer job and support opportunities from over 70 businesses already located at GatewayEast, and assistance with any recruitment and training needs whilst promoting available opportunities. Companies looking to invest will also receive bespoke recruitment support.

In addition, the Academy will offer support to individuals seeking employment opportunities at the Business Park. This service is available whether you are currently employed or unemployed. Individual support includes expert training from local training providers, upskilling, interview preparation, help with applications and CV workshops.

The GatewayEast Academy aims to support local residents and businesses in finding the best candidates for the roles and ensure recruiting local talent is always a priority.

All services to both businesses and individuals are completely FREE and confidential.
