AIR, which comprises 27 two, three and four-bedroom properties on a 1.44 acre plot at the junction of First Avenue and Hayfield Lane, is close to the strategically significant Gateway East development in Doncaster.
18 of the 27 new homes are being developed on brownfield land. South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) funding will be used as a contribution to the remaining fit-out costs to complete the development by the end of March 2025, ready for the homes to be sold to market buyers.
Bellona Advisors and ADE Regeneration acted for Fenwood in securing the grant.
Melissa Kroger, managing director of Fenwood Estates, said: “This funding is essential in accelerating the delivery of one of the region’s best new small housing schemes, close to an area critical to the region’s growth ambitions that includes the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
“I’d like to thank the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority for the speed of determining our application and we will now work hard to finish the development by the end of March 2025.”
South Yorkshire’s Mayor, Oliver Coppard, said: “We can’t have the economic growth that we need in South Yorkshire without more and better homes.
“That’s why I’m so pleased to see a local business receive funding that will help deliver new homes close to Gateway East in Doncaster; new housing that will support our plans for economic regeneration in the City of Doncaster and across South Yorkshire.
“The Plan for Good Growth, that I set out earlier this year, outlines the importance of developing good quality, affordable and sustainable housing if we are to improve living standards and restore pride, purpose and prosperity to South Yorkshire.”
Doncaster-based housebuilder Fenwood has brought forward hundreds of new homes across seven residential developments in Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire over the past decade.
Alongside the delivery of AIR, it is also constructing 33 three and four-bed properties at its Knights Gate development in nearby Sutton-cum-Lound.
The business is also bringing forward plans for further brownfield development on other South Yorkshire sites as part of its growth.
