Building work has commenced on the project to dramatically improve facilities at the Cantley Park training ground. Partners Workbox UK broke ground on the site last week, with initial digging work for the foundations on which the new extension will be built.

Comprising a state-of-the-art gym and medical facilities, the permanent structure will provide a significant upgrade to the provision which players can currently access.
Construction is expected to take six months with the project set to be completed before the end of the year.
“It’s fantastic to get started,” Workbox UK managing director Matt Jackson said. “It’s taken us 15 months to get to this point after huge challenges with the planning permission.
“We have worked closely with the club to get to this stage and progress is going to be pretty weeks over the coming weeks to get us to a completed gym.
“It’s an exciting project - particularly as someone who lives in Doncaster - to support the club and give them a state-of-the-art gym compared to the facilities they’ve got now. It’s going to be night and day once it’s completed.”
Courtesy of considerable funding from chairman Terry Bramall, the new building will feature a state-of-the-art gym with large windows looking out across the training pitches. Physiotherapy and consultation rooms will also form part of the project - all accessed from the existing player changing areas.
Designs are both environmentally friendly and embracing of the landscape of the training ground.
Existing gym and medical facilities housed in modular buildings will be demolished and replaced by a new car parking area.
