Local projects in specific areas of Doncaster have begun development as part of the Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund.
In October 2025, City of Doncaster Council received notice that it had been successful as part of the new Pride in Place Impact Fund, receiving £1.5m to spend before the end of 2026/27.
Pride in Place is targeted at areas ‘in need’ with the aim of building strong, resilient, prosperous, and inclusive communities.
As part of the Pride in Place Impact Fund, development projects will take place in Hexthorpe, Edlington and Highfields, with initial projects including:
Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, said: “This Government funding will allow us to deliver local projects within neighbourhoods that are in need of investment and will make a significant impact to their communities. Those living in Edlington, Hexthorpe and Highfields can expect to see work happening very quickly to get these local projects up and running and delivering positive change for our communities.
“This funding is an exciting opportunity to target local community projects, and I am really excited to see this development work happening quickly and bringing those local communities together.”
The first project expected to be completed is the renovations to the Plantworks Amateur Boxing Club in Hexthorpe.
MP for Doncaster Central Sally Jameson said: "Pride in Place funding is making a real, tangible difference in our communities, and I’m delighted to see investment going into the Hexthorpe Plant Works Amateur Boxing Club. These renovations will not only improve the facilities but help create a safe, welcoming space where young people can build confidence, discipline and a sense of belonging. Projects like this are about more than bricks and mortar — they’re about strengthening community spirit and giving the next generation the opportunities they deserve.”
MP for Doncaster North Ed Miliband said: "I am thrilled that Highfields is set to benefit from a brand-new community hub through the Pride in Place Impact Fund. This is exactly the kind of investment the Highfields community deserve.
"This will be a great facility for the residents of Highfields, somewhere they can come together to build community ties and to get support and advice they may need from council staff and services.
"I know what a positive space this will create for the Highfields community, and I look forward to visiting once the space is opened.”
MP for Rawmarsh and Conisbrough John Healey said: “I’m pleased that Labour’s Pride in Place Impact Fund will support the regeneration of Edlington, delivering long‑overdue improvements to the streetscape, with upgrades coming to shop fronts in the village. I know residents will be eager to see the start of the works and the positive changes that it will bring.
"This two-year investment shows how vital it is for a Labour Government and our Labour Mayor in Doncaster, Ros Jones, to work together to deliver real change for our communities."
Residents in all three areas can expect to see work beginning imminently on all of these projects, with further updates communicated as the works progress.
