Mayor of Doncaster visits to see Safer Schools in Action

Doncaster business Nine Hundred Communications were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, along with Damien Allen, James Church, and valued partner, Exceed Learning Partnership, to their new building.

During the visit, they discussed the work taking place in schools nationally to keep children and staff safe.

In 2025, they officially launched their Safer Schools initiative, with the mission of transforming school environments into safer spaces for students and staff alike. Safer schools don’t just protect children - they help them learn, communicate, and thrive in environments where they feel secure.

The company’s mission is to listen to schools, understand their pain points and challenges, and work together to develop solutions that suit the school, its staff, children, and parents. The results have been remarkable: children are safer, happier, and thriving in their new environments.

The mayor’s visit allowed them to showcase the ongoing impact of their Safer Schools work, reinforcing their shared commitment to ensuring every young person can thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment, both locally and nationally.

The Safer Schools portfolio aligns with DFE guidance and Martyn’s Law, drawing on over 45 years of experience and supporting more than 300 schools. It includes:

  • Lockdown & Tannoy Systems – clear announcements and emergency alerts for calm, coordinated responses.
  • Two-Way Radios – instant, secure communication for everyday operations and emergencies.
  • Body Cameras & CCTV – discreet, reliable tools that deter incidents and provide clear evidence.
  • Web Filtering – AI-powered systems that block harmful content while supporting safeguarding, wellbeing, and mental health.
  • Smart Detectors – real-time alerts for vaping, aggression, and unsafe behaviour.

During the visit, they worked with Exceed Learning Partnership to understand the specific needs of schools in Doncaster, understanding the needs of students, teachers, and parents about the challenges they face.

Nine Hundred Communications believes in giving the next generation the chance to thrive safely - because safer schools mean better learning, happier children, and stronger communities.
