Mayor visits Veolia’s Doncaster facility as company invests in growth and jobs

Veolia is one of the world's leading environmental services companies, providing water, waste and energy management services to cities, local authorities and businesses globally. The Group employs around 215,000 people worldwide and last year generated revenues of €44.4 billion.

In the UK, Veolia employs approximately 15,000 people and works in partnership with more than 50 local authorities, recycling over two million tonnes of waste annually and generating more than 1,200 GWh of low-carbon electricity each year.

Since acquiring the Doncaster facility, Veolia has invested significantly in the site, including improvements to site safety, signage, lighting and drainage, alongside the purchase of new machinery and collection vehicles. The company has also recruited five new team members, bringing its local workforce to 25 employees.

The Doncaster operation currently serves over 750 businesses across the Doncaster area with the site processing over 7,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable materials collected from commercial customers during the second quarter of 2026 alone.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the facility's role in helping local businesses reduce waste, increase recycling rates and support the transition to a more circular economy, as well as discuss Veolia’s growth plans for its Doncaster site.
