New McDonald's opens its doors in Doncaster

The restaurant at the Hatfield Doncaster Moto Services opened on 5 November.

Following significant investment from local franchisee Mark Clapham, the restaurant is now open for dine-in, takeaway, Drive Thru and Click ad Serve. Opening hours will be 24 hours, seven days a week.

The new 140 seater restaurant will create around 85 new full and part-time jobs for the local community. The restaurant has been developed in close collaboration with local businesses, showcasing innovations that prioritise sustainability without compromising comfort or functionality.

Local McDonald’s franchisee, Mark Clapham, who now owns and operates 12 McDonald’s restaurants in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, said: “We are delighted to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant at the Hatfield Doncaster Moto Services and can’t wait to see local customers, both new and old, enjoy our services on offer.

With consumers increasingly looking for greater speed, efficiency and choice when ordering their food, the Hatfield Doncaster restaurant has been built in-line with McDonald’s ambitious ‘Convenience of the Future’ programme. This combines a new layout with the latest technology to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.

With dedicated areas for the different ways to order, the new restaurant offers a more efficient way to order and provides customers with adequate space to enjoy their meal. The new kitchen design and dedicated courier waiting area will allow crew to better accommodate both courier and customer needs, meaning they will be able to serve more quickly, efficiently and accurately than ever before.

Encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices continues to be a key focus for McDonald’s. As part of its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2030 across all restaurants and offices, the Hatfield Doncaster restaurant incorporates a range of sustainable design features, including:

• The steel used in the building is certified with Environmental Policy Declarations
• Using sheep’s wool instead of synthetic alternatives for insulation
• Reduced glazing to the shop front and serving booths, due to the new building model, which in turn reduces the energy demand for heating and cooling
• Using recycled Happy Meal® toy plastics for the lining of the roof parapet panels
• Solar panels installed on the roof to generate on-site electricity and renewable energy
• Timber window frames and partition walls have replaced the traditional aluminium and steel frames.
• A fully modular building which allows it to be reused in the future.
• Wall lettering from recycled material (including McDonald’s own used coffee grounds).

The new restaurant is located at Doncaster Moto Services, Unity Connect, J5 M18, Hatfield DN8 5GS.
