New owners invest in the future of Truffle Lodge

Business in the Spotlight by Madi Plumb

A luxury spa in Fishlake is entering an exciting new chapter with new owners Glyn Oliver and Georgina Holling.

Located in the heart of the Doncaster countryside, Truffle Lodge offers luxury spa treatments, wellness experiences and dining packages designed to help guests relax and recharge in a tranquil setting. With Morning Wellness sessions, Day Spa experiences and Twilight Spa packages available, the business has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, personalised wellbeing experiences.

The business was taken over by husband-and-wife team Glyn Oliver and Georgina Holling in February 2026. While Georgina was already familiar with the business through her role as a beauty therapist, Glyn brings more than 14 years’ experience as a design and construction engineer in the railway industry, managing complex projects and large-scale developments. Together, they saw an opportunity to build a successful family business while preserving and enhancing a much-loved local destination.

Since taking ownership, the couple have focused on improving facilities while ensuring customers continue to enjoy the high standards of service the spa is known for. Despite the challenges that come with upgrading an established site, including infrastructure improvements and replacing essential equipment, the business has continued to grow and attract both returning and new customers.

A key achievement has been retaining the experienced team that helped establish Truffle Lodge's reputation over many years. The business currently employs eight members of staff and works alongside 15 self-employed beauty therapists, allowing it to offer a broad range of professional treatments while maintaining a personal, welcoming atmosphere.

The team at Truffle Lodge has worked with the Business Doncaster Launchpad programme and successfully secured a Digitalisation Grant, which will be used to develop a new website and implement an online booking system. This investment will make it easier for customers to book spa experiences while increasing efficiency across the business.

Glyn and Georgina said: "As new business owners, having the support of Business Doncaster has been invaluable. The advice and support we've received, together with the Digitalisation Grant, has added to the confidence in investing in the future of Truffle Lodge. It means we can improve the way we operate, make booking easier for our customers, and continue building a business we're proud of."

A second phase of renovations is planned for 2027, including refurbishment of the reception area and orangery, upgrades to kitchen facilities and further infrastructure improvements. Longer-term ambitions include the development of overnight accommodation, creating extended wellness breaks that will attract visitors from across South Yorkshire and beyond.

As a family-run business, Truffle Lodge is committed to supporting the local economy by retaining local talent, working with skilled therapists and using local suppliers and tradespeople wherever possible. Through continued investment and a clear vision for growth, Glyn and Georgina are helping to secure the future of a well-established Doncaster business while creating an even better visitor experience.
