North American sports retailer opens at Frenchgate

The new opening is the first South Yorkshire store for the Indianapolis-based Lids Sports Group

A North American sports retailer has opened its first South Yorkshire store at the Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster.

Indianapolis-based Lids Sports Group sell fan and fashion-orientated headwear and apparel across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico through almost 1,200 retail locations.

Trading as Lids, the retailer carries officially licenced and branded merchandise from European football and Formula 1 as well as the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL from across the Atlantic.

Britten Maughan, president of Lids, said: "Lids is excited to join Frenchgate Shopping Centre. We offer a large assortment of hats and jerseys and carry top brands like Nike, New Era, Adidas and Mitchell and Ness. With over 1,000 hat options to choose from we immediately become the best place to buy a hat."

Ian Leech, marketing manager for Frenchgate, added: "It's fantastic to have such a huge name like Lids join us here at the Centre.

"Their product range is like nothing else in Doncaster, and they will be a great addition to the ever-diverse offering we have at Frenchgate."
