Pacy & Wheatley Becomes Employee Owned

A New Chapter in a Proud 55-Year Legacy

Doncaster, United Kingdom 15th January 2026, Pacy & Wheatley, headquartered in Doncaster, is one of the UK’s longest-established family-owned construction groups. The company delivers large-scale construction projects across multiple sectors including care homes, commercial and residential developments. Its specialist Acoustics division works with global brands, while its Interiors division delivers major interior contracts for leading retail chains, hospitals, and storage solution providers nationwide.

The business has announced a major milestone in its history, transitioning to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

Founded in 1968 by John Pacy and Dave Wheatley, the company has grown from modest beginnings fitting wardrobes and refurbishing homes into a respected national contractor delivering trusted, modern building solutions.

Following the passing of co-founder and Chairman Dave Wheatley in 2023, his sons Anthony Wheatley, Group Managing Director, and Craig Wheatley, Group Director, made the collective decision to safeguard the company’s future by placing ownership in the hands of its employees.

“Our dad built this business on integrity, craftsmanship, and care for people,” said Anthony Wheatley. “Moving to employee ownership ensures those values stay at the heart of everything we do. It is not an exit, it is a commitment to the future.”

The move secures the company’s independence, culture, and values, while recognising the vital contribution of every team member. Employee ownership will ensure the long-term stability of the business and strengthen its commitment to delivering excellence across every project.

“Our people have always been at the heart of this business,” said Craig Wheatley. “They built it, they sustain it, and now they own it.”

Jack Ware, Corporate Finance Director at Hawsons, Doncaster, Sheffield & Northampton, commented:

“We’re delighted to have supported Pacy & Wheatley through this transition. Their strong culture and family values made employee ownership a natural fit. This move not only protects that culture but also gives employees a real voice in the company’s future. It’s been a privilege to work with them.”

This step follows a growing national trend among progressive UK firms choosing employee ownership as a way to strengthen continuity, reward loyalty, and build sustainable long-term success.
