PALEUS expands production capacity to meet growing demand for Sustainable Chemical Solutions

Doncaster-based chemical manufacturer PALEUS is scaling up its operations to meet increasing global demand for environmentally sustainable chemical solutions, including water-based acrylic emulsions and specialist chemicals for the oil and gas processing industry. With a portfolio of over 150 speciality products and a growing focus for innovation, the company has recently invested in a new reactor plant to boost acrylic emulsion polymer manufacturing capacity by 60%.

PALEUS is a trusted supplier of speciality chemicals across multiple sectors. The company’s commitment to seamless productivity and sustainable growth is reflected in its latest investment, which supports the launch of the new PALACRYL product range. These products are designed in-house for coatings, sealants, binders and construction applications. This complements the existing PALATAC product range which focuses on pressure sensitive adhesives technology.

Under the leadership of Managing Director Mark Briscoe, PALEUS employs 26 staff, including a dedicated team of four in Research & Development.

The business is undergoing rapid expansion, requiring significant capital investment, including the acquisition and redevelopment of an adjacent site with planned reconstruction for office and warehouse use, expected to be completed by 2027.

PALEUS has received significant business support from Business Doncaster including a grant from the UKSPF Productivity & Digitalisation Grant that enabled the initial expansion of production capacity with the purchase of a new reactor.

The grant has also supported automation and digitisation of the original 2004 acrylic polymer plant through the installation of new electrical and control panels, introduction of PLCs for process control and alarms. These upgrades have enhanced product quality and safety. Improved data logging is enabling technical analysis and process optimisation to a greater depth.
