The ever-popular annual cricket match for the Official Business Community Vase, is back after an absence of one year due to the Covid Pandemic.
This year’s match, organised by Business Doncaster partners DB4C, will take place on Sunday 5th September at Tickhill Cricket Club so get the date in your diary!
The confirmation that Tickhill Cricket Club will once more host DB4C’s annual cricket challenge comes as no surprise as it builds on a winning formula following the incredible success of 2019 when all previous records in terms of attendance and funds raised were broken. Hundreds of spectators attended and together with the players and sponsors they raised a record breaking £5,500 for local charities Create A Dream and The Hygiene Bank.
The Commercial Legends and Business All-stars will compete for the DB4C Business Community Vase in a 20-20 game format with the players drawn from local businesses and DB4C is also delighted to confirm that the teams will once again be sponsored by HSR Law and Polypipe Limited. Fabian Braithwaite, Managing Partner of HSR Law said: “We are pleased to continue to support DB4C and they great work they do in bringing our local business community together to support our local charities.”
Cameron McLellan, Polypipe’s Divisional Managing Director added: “Polypipe are really pleased to sponsor the annual cricket challenge for another year, the competition will no doubt be fierce but good natured and the money raised will go to some fantastic local charities. I look forward to watching the spectacle on the 5th September!”
This year’s match will raise funds for Firefly Cancer Awareness & Support and the Tickhill CC Youth Cricket Development Programme with training and netting practice sessions beginning on 19th July and registrations from both male and female players are welcome. As usual there will be a VIP spectator area, Man of the Match and Champagne Moment Awards and of course the winning team gets to lift the coveted Official Business Community Vase.
The annual cricket challenge was the first event to be organised back in 2017 by Doncaster Business for the Community, the ground breaking and highly innovative charitable trust and the only one of its kind in the UK to be run entirely by the its local business community which raises much needed funds for local charities and community projects. The event has gone from strength to strength with a tried and tested format and like all of DB4C’s sporting events players will be drawn from across the business community.
Ryan Davis, coordinator of DB4C’s Cricket Task Team said: “It is going to be another great event and held at what has proven to be a superb venue. Due to the popularity of this event places are very limited so please contact us as soon as you can if you wish to register to play.”
DB4C Director Martin Wilmott added: “DB4C is now entering its fifth year of operations as a registered charitable trust with an ever-growing number of events and supporters. DB4C has achieved so much since its inception, proving that the town’s businesses through their participation in our sporting events care deeply about the community and its well-being.”
