South Yorkshire businesses urged to saddle up for children’s charity ride

Organisations across South Yorkshire are being asked to swap the office chair for a saddle this September and get behind a brand-new cycling challenge that will raise money for local children.

The Fusion Charity Ride, hosted by Doncaster-based charity Active Fusion, will take place on Sunday 28th September 2025. The event will see riders take on a demanding but rewarding 113-mile route from Torworth Lakes out to the Cleethorpes coast and back, all to support young people in the region to thrive through sport and physical activity.

Active Fusion are making a direct appeal to the business community, encouraging firms to rally their staff, whether seasoned cyclists or weekend hobby riders, to raise critical funds and show their backing for a cause rooted in the local community.

“Working together with our partners, we are making things fairer for children and young people living in poverty to access sport and physical activity no matter where they are,” said Lindsy James, Founder & Director at Active Fusion.

“Our ambition is to create a world where all children are healthy, happy, and active, while prioritising services for those facing the highest levels of inequality. We have a fantastic community of fundraisers across Yorkshire and the UK, organising and taking part in a variety of events and challenges. Your help can change the life of a local child.”

The day begins at 7:00am with a free breakfast sandwich and drinks for every rider, before cyclists roll out in staggered groups from 7:30am, led by experienced ride leaders at different paces. The route offers a mix of quiet countryside lanes and coastal scenery, plus a traditional stop for fish and chips in Cleethorpes before the return leg.

Back at Torworth Lakes, riders and supporters will be welcomed with live music, rustic pizza, a charity raffle and a chance to celebrate the day’s efforts together. A special thanks has been paid to Torworth Lakes, sponsors of the event, for helping make it possible.

There is no official entry fee, but participants are asked to donate a minimum of £50, with all proceeds going directly to Active Fusion.

South Yorkshire businesses are now being asked to step up, whether by putting forward teams of cyclists, supporting staff with fundraising or simply encouraging colleagues to get involved.
