The Youth Employment Hub is back

Younger residents across Doncaster struggling to get into work and education now have access to the Youth Employment Hub to inspire them to become the future of Doncaster.

The Hubs will be based at Doncaster Council’s Civic Office within the city centre, whilst also offering support in drop in locations around the city including at: Conisbrough Library, The Vermuyden Centre (Thorne) and Woodlands Community Library.

Between July 2021 and March 2022 the hub worked with 226 young people around Doncaster, resulting in 130 being supported into Education and/or Employment and 100% moving closer to the labour market.

The aim of the hub - a project led by the council's Business Doncaster team - is to engage unemployed young people aged 16 -24 and provide support as well as inspirational advice and guidance, which will enable a positive transition into sustained employment.

Deputy Mayor of Doncaster Council, Cllr Glyn Jones said: “I welcome the roll-out of the employment hubs across the localities. It is clear from the results of previous hubs, which have seen 130 young people previously on universal credit enter employment or education, that they are a valuable and needed asset to help give our young residents a helping hand with their careers.

“The natural next stage of the roll out was to extend the service right across Doncaster and I am delighted that the hubs are now available in new areas of the Borough.”

Cabinet member for Education, Skills and Young people, Cllr Lani-Mae Ball said: “It’s fantastic to hear that so many of our young adults have already accessed the facilities on offer and I hope that many more will take advantage of the roll-out of the hubs across the city.

“The cost-of-living crisis dominates the news at the moment but I want to send the message out to our young adults that there is still support and opportunities out there. Our expert coaches can help you to gain access to support, advice and training opportunities.”

Services at the Youth Employment Hub include one-to-one support focused on career goals, group employability sessions and workshops on key career themes like CV writing.
