Local Growth Fund Productivity Grant

The Business Productivity grant is a project managed by the Enterprising Barnsley team within Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and delivered across South Yorkshire in partnership with Rotherham Council, City of Doncaster Council and Sheffield City Council. It is supported and part funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and the Local Growth Fund.

The Business Productivity Grant is now open to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) based in Doncaster. This grant is designed to help businesses improve productivity, adopt digital innovation, and invest in projects that support sustainable growth.

About the Project

This project aims to support Doncaster-based SMEs by helping them identify and address productivity challenges through capital or revenue grant funding.

The grant can be used to support a broad range of activity focused on improving how your business operates, including digital innovation and process improvements.

Grant overview:

• Funding of up to 50% of eligible project costs
• Maximum eligible project value: £24,999

How the Grant Can Support Your Business

While the project seeks to safeguard existing businesses and jobs, priority will be given to applications that can demonstrate:

• Clear and measurable productivity improvements
• The potential to create new local jobs
• Long-term benefits to business growth and resilience

How It Works

1. Initial Review
   A member of the Business Doncaster team will work with you to assess your current business position and identify key areas for improvement.
2. Targeted Support
   This diagnostic approach ensures your business has the right foundations in place to make the most of the Business Productivity Grant, as well as other complementary business support available across South Yorkshire.
3. Open Call Competition
   The project operates through a competitive Open Call, inviting eligible businesses to apply for grants of:
   • £2,500 to £12,499
   • For capital or revenue investment projects
   • That lead to clearly evidenced productivity improvements

Grant awards are up to 50% of eligible costs.
