Business leaders share ideas on how to shape Doncaster’s future economic strategy

The event was full of insightful discussions around employment, creating vibrant places and how to stimulate innovation, whilst also recognising the challenges of the current time.

This week businesses leaders and partners from across Doncaster were invited to attend Team Doncaster’s roundtable event to discuss the future economic strategy of the city.

Mitchell Salter, Senior Policy and Insight Manager for Doncaster Council, said “on Tuesday 4th October at the brilliant CAST, we were delighted to host business leaders from across industries and sectors in Doncaster to help shape the development of Team Doncaster’s Economic Strategy.

“The session built on our July roundtable, and led to insightful discussions around employment, creating vibrant places and how to stimulate innovation, whilst also recognising the challenges of the current time.

“The voice of business is vital to help shape a vision that is befitting of our collective aspiration to make Doncaster the best place to do business and create good jobs, to help create thriving people, places and planet.”

Following presentations by the Policy and Insight Team and Doncaster Council’s Chief Executive Damian Allen, Alex Dochery from Business Doncaster gave a presentation on the wide range of business support currently available before encouraging business leaders to help shape plans around future support provision.

Alex Dochery, Investment Team Manager, commented, “This second session built upon the great work we started back in July. There was lots of discussion around business growth and investment and some of the current barriers to that in terms of access to finance, grant support, skills and recruitment.

“Business Doncaster and our partners are able to provide support and advice in many of the areas discussed. As part of this roundtable event, we gained valuable insight from business leaders on how best to connect their needs to the services our expert team provides, and where we need to focus future resources.

“We work with businesses throughout the city to support existing business growth and to bring new investment into Doncaster. I would urge businesses already in Doncaster or looking to relocate to our excellent city to get in touch with us!”
