It’s celebration time for Doncaster’s favourite cycle shop.
Don Valley Cycles will be celebrating a landmark 30 years in business this June, having first opened its doors on 7th June 1993.
Starting out in Chequer Road, Doncaster, where the owner, Martin Maltby, a former international road racing cyclist, first established Don Valley Cycles. The shop stood here for 27 years and in recent years, the business has grown in size and demand and has moved to a larger premise on Carr House Road.
Don Valley Cycles has supported cyclists and cycling events across many different events. This includes The Doncaster Bikeathon and more recently, The Doncaster Cycle Festival. Martin and the business also actively encouraged the development of the new purpose-built cycle circuit at the Doncaster Dome.
Martin states that watching the popularity of cycling grow over the last 30 years has been a great privilege. Not only as a sport but also as a means of transport with the increase in demand of E-Bikes. He also points to the Tour De Yorkshire, and the World Cycling Championships being held in Doncaster as another highlight.

Hopefully, we will all be fit enough to do 400 miles in 4 days in another decade!
