Doncaster Council is looking to appoint contractors for highways construction work worth up to £155m.

Doncaster Council is looking to appoint contractors for highways construction work worth up to £155m.

The contract is split into five lots with all lots due to start on 7 November 2022 and be in place for five years.

The provision of Highway construction works via 5 lots as below:
Lot 1 - Minor Highway Construction Schemes & Associated Works
Lot 2 - Road Resurfacing Schemes & Highway Re-construction Works
Lot 3 - Road Resurfacing Schemes & Highway Re-construction Works
Lot 4 - Public Realm & Civil Engineering Works
Lot 5 - Public Realm & Highway Street Lighting Works

The scope of all five contracts includes:

  • *Construction, foundation and surface works for highways and roads
  • *Construction work for highways
  • *Surface work for highways
  • *Carriageway resurfacing works
  • *Resurfacing works
  • *Street-lighting columns
  • *Works for complete or part construction and civil engineering work.

Contractors are expected to place tenders for the contract by 12pm on 18 October. 

The package of improvements to roads, pavements and bridges across the region comes as an effort to support the government’s agenda to level up transport across the country.

The major roads to benefit from the investment include the M1, A1(M), M62, M18, A1, A19, A63 and A69.

The improvements will include road resurfacing, bridge joint replacements, improved signage and drainage, renewal of barriers, renewal of traffic lights, and provision of facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
