Investment drives further growth for Doncaster waste management company

Remondis, the Doncaster based waste management company, recently welcomed Mayor Ros Jones and Portfolio Holder for Housing & Business Cllr Glyn Jones to their facilities in Kirk Sandall.

The visit was arranged to highlight the company’s significant investment in site infrastructure and equipment since it moved into the borough in October 2018. This has included upgrading and replacing the whole HGV fleet with latest Euro 6 compliant Scania trucks, the mobile plant on site and purchasing an electric fork-lift as well as over 150 new specialist waste containers. New offices have been installed and the on-site canteen and welfare facilities of the employees have been refurbished. The company has also invested in new technology with the purchase of a specialist ERP computer system linking all areas of business operations.

During the visit, the Mayor was invited to cut the ribbon to officially open the company’s latest piece of equipment, a cardboard compactor and baler.

Mayor Ros Jones said: “I was very pleased to accept the invitation from Remondis. It is great to hear about their investment, not only in plant, equipment and green technology but also in our local people. The company has recently created 9 new jobs and continues to grow.”

Phil Darwin, Regional Director for Remondis, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Mayor and Cllr Jones to see first-hand the amount of investment we have made over the last 4 years. Many of the products and services have been sourced locally with assistance from the team at Business Doncaster. The variety of support we receive from Business Doncaster is excellent.”

Steve Patterson, Managing Director for Remondis, added: “It is absolutely fantastic to be able to showcase these facilities that confirm our commitment to the borough and the wider region.”
