People needed to fill vital social care roles in Doncaster

Doncaster Council, has set up the academy to help get people quickly into a range of temporary roles. Jobs range from compassionate carers through to important supportive roles such as cleaners and cooks.

Councillor Rachael Blake, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “We need more social care heroes to join our fantastic teams based across the borough who are making a daily difference to the lives of our vulnerable residents. We realise it is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone right now - your support will have a huge impact in helping our most vulnerable people and their families over the coming weeks.

“Adult social care roles are tremendously rewarding, no one day is the same and I am confident that there many people in our communities who will have what it takes so if that’s you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the academy. Also, do remember we are not just recruiting for carers, we also need people to help keep the sector running and these jobs are vital too.”

“We’ve got a brilliant group of organisations working to deliver care for people in the borough, both in care homes and in our communities. They have been managing well up to now but we know that things will get tougher, with more Doncaster people becoming unwell and with the likelihood that some staff themselves will need to be off work for a period due to sickness. We also know we’ve got a number of local people not working at the moment for whom employment in one of our varied roles could be a great opportunity,” Cllr Blake added.

The academy will quickly match the skills and experience of candidates with the jobs available.

It is expected that there will be a variety of temporary full time and part-time roles that need filling in the coming weeks.

People will be matched to roles that suit their skills and interests through a discussion on the phone. Full training will be given, predominantly online, and support will be provided throughout.
