People, Technology and Productivity in Yorkshire, The Humber & North East

  • Venue:Arundel room, Millennium Gallery, Arundel Gate, Sheffield
  • Date:29th Apr 2026
  • Price:FREE

The Yorkshire, Humber and North East Productivity Forum, led by Sheffield University Management School, is running an event that will bring together business leaders, regional policymakers, academics and other stakeholders, to discuss the challenges and opportunities that AI and digital advances present for productivity, jobs and skills and to also explore inclusive employment practices. The event will look at how employers are supporting individuals into employment and helping them to remain in work.

We are very pleased to announce that Andy Haldane, Chancellor of the University of Sheffield and Ex-Chief Economist of the Bank of England, will be the keynote speaker.

The event will also include an interactive panel discussion with industry experts, exploring how organisations might benefit from digital and AI technologies and the potential wider consequences of technological changes for employment, job quality and future skill requirements. Attendees will also hear about steps organisations have taken to develop and embed more inclusive employment practices.

The event will also provide an opportunity to hear about The Productivity Institute's latest cutting edge research findings concerning recruitment, retention, skill development and apprenticeship training in Yorkshire, the Humber and the North East.

Deadline for registration is 19th April.
