About this event

Now is the time the world needs to go further and faster to tackle climate change. The UK Government has set an ambitious target to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050. Innovation will be crucial in achieving this target and tackling climate change from early-stage R&D, to deployment of technology at scale. New knowledge, technologies, skilled people and multi and interdisciplinary partnerships are needed to keep the UK at the forefront of a new, green, industrial revolution.

Bringing together businesses and organisations who have expressed both a challenge and a desire to engage with researchers from across Sheffield Hallam University, this year’s Innovation Conference will be held in-person on 14 September 2022.

The vision of this year’s Innovation Conference is to allow companies and organisations to access the knowledge, technology and expertise they need to deliver fundamental change in how we tackle the global climate crisis. The conference will include:

Research & Innovation exhibition (drop-in)

Our Research & Innovation exhibition will be open for the entirety of the day, displaying a range of posters that showcase the breadth of research currently taking place across the university around the theme of Green Future. There will also be a number of exhibitors, including research institutes, business support teams and organisations who can provide support, information and guidance on how you can tackle climate change.

Green Future panel session (ticketed)

We will be holding an expert panel addressing the current priorities and challenges relating to all aspects of the Green Future agenda. Chaired by Hallam’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research & Innovation, Professor Rory Duncan, our panellists bring a wealth of experience and knowledge from Industry, the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, the Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network, the Henry Royce Institute and, of course, Sheffield Hallam University.
