How Centurion are working towards achieving a more sustainable future

Centurion Europe’s Product Development Team are looking at the future of packaging for the next decade across the whole of Centurion Europe Group Of Companies.

Our team are researching and looking at new sustainable packaging solutions as well as existing packaging that is made from Recycled Material or using Material that is wholly Recyclable. We are working with existing and potential new suppliers and challenging them to do better to help mitigate our impact on the environment.

The waste hierarchy (eliminate, reduce, re-use, recycle) is a founding principle for the Product Development Team and the team are actively investigating opportunities to eliminate packaging on products where we can. When elimination of packaging is not possible, the team is focusing on packaging volume reduction, the use of alternative materials and options for packaging re-use.

It is important to note that in certain circumstances plastic packaging remains, at present, the most effective option for some of our products, in terms of function and carbon footprint, when compared to other existing packaging material types. In these situations, in alignment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 - Responsible Consumption, Centurion Europe is committed to using plastic types that are easily recyclable and/or have recycled content greater than 30%  whenever feasible.

We are now working on several projects that will focus on decreasing packaging quantity and increasing the recycling content, which will start to come through towards the end of 2022.

Achieving a more sustainable future is a journey, and one we are fully committed to and we will provide you with updates regarding the latest projects and initiatives as often as we can.
