The Apothecary Salon was founded by Lindsey Jones, a qualified local beautician.
After working alone from the conservatory of her home, Lindsey went on to open her first salon at Market Place, Tickhill in April 2016.
Lindsey knew when the shop became available it was the perfect location and she had a clear vision of how she wanted the salon to look using reclaimed woods, metals and beautiful furnishings to create a cosy industrial feel.
Despite carefully researching all the costings and working with her business advisor on her business plan and applying for a start-up loan, Lindsey found there were more hurdles to overcome when certain costs outside her control spiralled over budget. Lindsey recalls one particular setback when a wall had been stripped of wallpaper and all the plaster underneath came away. These things can’t be anticipated, however undeterred, Lindsey ploughed on and opened her salon on 30 April 2016, the very same day that the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race passed through the village.
Very quickly it became apparent that Lindsey needed to expand and provide a second treatment room, therefore with only two months trading behind her and with the help of family, she reorganised the salon, utilised the space & created a further beauty room.
Her attitude and business acumen served her well when she then entered her business in the ‘start-up business’ category at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards 2016. The judges were so impressed with her continued success and progress that she went on to be crowned ‘winner’ for that category.
A year on and the award winning salon has undergone a further refurbishment, a complete re-fit and expansion. Lindsey has worked hard to create a beautiful space you can retreat to, unwind and indulge offering a carefully designed range of treatments that can be tailored specifically to suit your needs.
Moving forward The Apothecary Salon now offers three treatment rooms as well as a spray tan area… a perfect little bit of paradise in the beautiful village in Tickhill.
