Call for Doncaster Manufacturers to help shape and benefit from collaborative Innovation Programme

The Productivity Challenge supported 15 SME manufacturers, trialling 31 practical technology solutions over a four-month period, increasing productivity and delivering tangible business impact.

Innovation in Action is a business-led network that empowers local businesses to tackle real challenges, implement practical solutions and achieve measurable results.

Doncaster SME manufacturers are now being invited to help shape the next programme, which launches in July and is due to start in September.

Some of the benefits from the latest programme include:

• Improved process efficiency through the adoption of bespoke AI tools and automation
• Machine capacity optimisation using sensors and smart data intelligence
• Development of CRM systems to support growth, market expansion and diversification
• Introduction of new processes, products and services to unlock growth opportunities
• Reduced duplication, increased quality, improved profit margins and enhanced competitive advantage

The next programme will build on the following insights:

• Businesses value learning from other businesses
• Mentors accelerate decision-making and build confidence by sharing experience
• Technology providers improve their products by working on real-world challenges with manufacturers
• Collaboration creates opportunities that would not otherwise arise
• Innovation is most effective when it is practical and business-led

The Innovation in Action programme is co-developed with businesses to complement support available through Business Doncaster and help inform targeted regional funding opportunities. Where appropriate, it links with Made Smarter, Skills Bank, Innovate UK, Local Growth Fund Productivity and Digitalisation and Low Carbon programmes along with other emerging business support initiatives.
