Help shape the future of Electrical Vehicle Charging for Doncaster businesses

Businesses across Doncaster are being encouraged to take advantage of generous tax incentives by switching to electric vehicles (EVs), turning what was once an environmental choice into a smart financial strategy.

With Government support in place and Doncaster’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2040, EV adoption is emerging as a win-win for local companies looking to cut costs while contributing to a cleaner future.

From small independent firms to expanding SMEs and large fleet operators, businesses are discovering that electrifying their fleets can deliver substantial tax savings alongside lower running costs.

Immediate Tax Relief through Capital Allowances

One of the most compelling incentives currently available is the 100% First Year Capital Allowance. Businesses that invest in EVs or EV charging infrastructure between April 2025 and April 2027 can deduct the full cost from their taxable profits in the year of purchase. This means companies can significantly reduce their corporation tax bill straight away, improving cash flow and making upfront investment far more manageable. For many Doncaster businesses, this allowance makes upgrading a fleet not just viable, but financially advantageous. Find out more information about claiming Capital Allowances on Gov.UK

Lower Company Car Tax for Employees and Employers

Electric vehicles also offer major savings through reduced Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax rates. For the 2025/26 tax year, EVs attract a BiK rate of just 3%, rising gradually to 5% by 2027/28. In comparison, petrol, diesel, and many hybrid vehicles can attract BiK rates of up to 37%, depending on emissions. This difference can result in thousands of pounds in annual savings for both employers and employees, making EVs an attractive option for company car schemes and helping businesses recruit and retain talent. Find out more information on how BiK affects EVs

Supporting Doncaster’s Net-Zero Vision

Beyond financial incentives, switching to electric fleets plays a key role in supporting Doncaster’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040. Reducing vehicle emissions is one of the most impactful steps businesses can take, and increased EV adoption will contribute to cleaner air and a healthier local environment.
