Businesses across Doncaster and South Yorkshire are being urged to seize new opportunities linked to the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, as one of the region’s most significant investment projects gathers pace.
A wide range of supply chain opportunities are emerging as work continues across airfield infrastructure, operational readiness and the wider South Yorkshire Airport City development. From construction and engineering to IT, logistics and professional services, organisations of all sizes are being encouraged to get involved.
To support this, City of Doncaster Council and airport operator FlyDoncaster Ltd are hosting a dedicated ‘Meet the Buyer’ event, designed to connect local SMEs and contractors directly with procurement teams and project leaders. The event will provide first-hand insight into upcoming contracts, as well as guidance on accessing funding, training and tendering support.
Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, said: “The reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Doncaster and the wider region. We are committed to ensuring that local businesses are at the heart of this journey. This ‘Meet the Buyer’ event is about opening doors and giving our SMEs direct access to opportunities, support and the connections they need to grow and succeed.”
The airport’s reopening is expected to deliver significant economic benefits, including job creation, investment and long-term growth across South Yorkshire. Developing a strong and resilient local supply chain will be key to ensuring these benefits are felt across the region.
Airport projects rely on a diverse network of suppliers, and opportunities linked to Doncaster Sheffield Airport extend far beyond aviation. As plans progress, demand is expected across areas including infrastructure services, facilities management, environmental services, consultancy, cargo, logistics, and digital systems.
Local businesses are central to the airport’s success, bringing regional expertise, established networks and the flexibility to respond to evolving needs.
The ‘Meet the Buyer’ event will take place on 23 June 2026, 1:30–5pm, with venue details shared upon registration.
