Weldricks Pharmacy Get Behind New Kickstart Scheme

Independent pharmacy chain, Weldricks, is proud to announce its role in the Government’s new Kickstart scheme with a view to encouraging young people to consider the pharmacy sector via work placements with the company.

Launched in September 2020, the Kickstart Scheme is a Government funded initiative to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Commenting on the scheme, Tracy Thornton, Head of HR for Weldricks, said: “A career in pharmacy is hugely rewarding; we speak from experience! So, we’re proud to be part of Kickstart and play a part in inspiring and supporting young people to consider the pharmacy sector via work placements with us here at Weldricks.”

Continues Tracy: “We’d like to invite anyone aged between 16 and 24 and who is currently unemployed and interested in learning more about the industry, to apply to take part.

“Successful applicants will gain direct work experience and training thanks to a six-month placement with us. You will have the opportunity to learn all about pharmacy and associated skills, as well as working alongside a professional pharmacy team in one of our busy community pharmacies. Or you could be occupied with a role in our Branch Service Centre in one of our support departments such as Buying, Human Resources, Accounts and Marketing. There’s so much to choose from!”

Concludes Tracy: “So, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to play a key role in a modern pharmacy, now’s your chance!”

For more details about the placements and to register your interest, please discuss with your work coach at your local job centre who will give you details on how to get started with your application. Alternatively, visit the Weldricks’ website. https://www.weldricks.co.uk/jobs/kickstart
